Future Customers at the ISG Table – Welcome Anisha and Liz
This month we’re delighted to welcome two new junior members to Northern Gas Networks’ Independent Stakeholder Group (ISG). The Junior ISG role is all about bringing the voice of future customers into the heart of governance, ensuring that young people help shape the decisions NGN makes.
Our new members bring energy, fresh thinking, and impressive experience.
Anisha has just turned twenty and is studying Economic History at the London School of Economics. She’s passionate about connecting her academic background with real-world discussions on sustainability and wants to explore how business and the environment can work together.
Liz is studying Civil Engineering at the University of Glasgow, with ambitions to specialise in environmental or geotechnical engineering. She has already shown strong leadership, chairing her sixth form’s student wellbeing working party and winning a Durham youth award.
Both Anisha and Liz are moving into these formal, paid ISG roles after contributing to NGN’s Young Innovators Council (YIC), where they helped explore new perspectives on affordability, decarbonisation, and customer priorities. It’s great to see them progress from youth engagement into governance itself.
Their induction took place at NGN’s offices in Thorpe Park, where they met some of the NGN leadership team (including Greg Dodd Regulation director) and received introductions to NGN, how the ISG works, and our business plan for GD3.
Anisha and Liz take over from Charlotte and Yvana, who were our first Junior ISG members and helped pioneer the role. Their insight on intergenerational fairness, affordability, and innovation has been highlighted in NGN’s business plan and annual reports, and they leave a strong legacy for the next cohort.
NGN remains the only UK gas distribution network to embed junior members in its governance structure, and we’ll be sharing the model with Ofgem and other regulated businesses to encourage wider replication across the sector.
We’re excited to see how Anisha and Liz will build on this foundation, continuing to bring the essential lens of future customers into our work on affordability, innovation, and net zero.
